Anastasia Mastilovic
artist
My art has been influenced by two predominant movements; expressionism and surrealism. I get inspiration in daily life with an emphasis on Christianity, love, and death.
The theme of the Apocalypse touches me deeply. All the moments of a person’s life and actions have meaning. The theme of the Apocalypse touches me deeply. All the moments of a person’s life and actions have meaning. This eternal theme is something that I feel most intimately when I visit cemeteries
Anastasia Mastilovic was born in Moscow.
After her birth, she moved with her family to New York, USA. There she often visited the Metropolitan Museum, as well as the ancient abbey The Met Cloisters, and painted there for many hours. Returning to Moscow at the age of 8, Anastasia enrolled in a children's art studio, where she was under the tutelage of the famous artist Igor Gerasimov, a master of watercolors in Russia. During this period, Anastasia studied many different techniques and some of her ceramic works were exhibited at the Tretyakov Gallery (2002-2005).
After graduating from art school, Anastasia entered the Moscow Academic Art School, specializing in the restoration of icons and paintings. Almost all conservation and restoration was carried out on authentic works from museum collections dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. Two major museums included the State Historical Museum and the Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve.
Finally, after graduating from college, she was admitted to the Moscow State Academic Art Institute (2017-2019) named after V.I. Surikov, majoring in Graphics. At the Faculty of Graphics, she was engaged in illustration and book design, easel graphics, posters, typography, graphic design. There was also the study of various techniques: lithography, etching and linocut. Anastasia's paintings were exhibited at the Tretyakov Gallery, State Historical Museum, Moscow Union of Artists, Central House of Artists and other international exhibitions.
She now lives and works in the USA.
